The new Barrhead Health and Social Care Centre took another step forward when the Full Business Case was approved by the Board of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
The Full Business Case will now be submitted to the Scottish Government Health Directorate’s Capital Investment Group.
Douglas Yates, Chair of East Renfrewshire Community Health and Care Partnership, which is responsible for the development of the new centre, said: “We want a local health and social centre that is fit for the 21st century and this is a major step towards achieving that goal.
“The new health and social care centre will provide a wide range of services including dental services, physiotherapy, podiatry (foot care), community nursing and social work services.
“It will also provide accommodation for three GP practices, day-care and support services for older people and community mental health services.”
Construction work on the new centre, which will be built on the site of the former Carlibar Primary School is expected to start this summer and be completed by the end of 2010.
