Patients in Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) will be better read thanks to a donation of 300 new books from the WHSmith Trust and WH Smith PLC.
The GRI is one of 10 hospitals throughout the UK who are receiving donations of a variety of books to create a new library or supplement an existing one.
Rosie Cherry, the GRI Facilities Manager, said: “We are delighted that WHSmith has chosen the hospital for this donation. It is a fantastic choice of books I know that they will be used and enjoyed by many patients.”
The WHSmith Trust is an independent charity that aims to promote literacy and support the local communities in which WHSmith staff and customers live and work.
Michelle Claven, Manager of WHSmith store in the GRI said:
“We’re really excited to have the opportunity to support our local hospital and help to create library facilities for patients and staff. It’s a great way for the staff at WHSmith to get involved with their local communities and help promote literacy.”
