New parents struggling to cope with having a baby now have a helping hand thanks to the launch of a new booklet.
‘So You’ve Just Had a Baby?’ is a practical guide for mums and dads who may be feeling stressed following the birth of their child.
As well as looking at what parents can expect to feel following childbirth, the booklet covers common concerns such as the Baby Blues, feeling anxious about leaving baby, getting through each day, and getting back to feeling like yourself again.
Written by a team of mental health specialists from Glasgow City CHP’s STEPS team and Caledonian University, the booklet will be launched on December 8. Anyone wishing a copy can obtain it from http://glasgowsteps.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Carol Richards, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and one of the co-authors*, said: “Most new parents feel stressed in some way – as I remember only too well! We hope this booklet helps them recognise this and gives them some good tips on how to manage it.
“By teaming up with Eleanor Forrest from Caledonian University, we’ve been able to cover all the bases to produce a simple, straightforward guide for all new parents who might be feeling stressed. We think everyone who’s just had a baby will find this booklet useful.”
