West Dunbartonshire Council Planning Committee has given its approval to plans for a new health and care centre within Alexandria.
This is another major milestone for plans to build a modern state-of-the-art health and care centre on the Vale of Leven Hospital site.
Keith Redpath, Director of West Dunbartonshire CHCP, said: "The approval of this planning application is a significant milestone in taking us closer to a health and care centre for Alexandria.
“An extensive engagement exercise involving NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, West Dunbartonshire Community Health and Care Partnership, staff, service users and the public locally was undertaken as part of the planning application and there was unanimous support for the innovative design of the building.
“Support was also shown for the overall approach to making the best use of the rare opportunities afforded by the site – particularly the provision of all public services on the ground floor.
“The Planning Committee’s decision provides our work with a strong boost as we complete the full business case for the new Centre for submission to the Scottish Government Capital Investment Grop for consideration later this autumn."
West Dunbartonshire Community Health and Care Partnership has organised a further public event to provide local residents and community representatives with up-to-date details on the design and plans for the new Centre.
This event will take place on Thursday, October 6th, 2011 at Loch Lomond National Park Headquarters, Balloch. The session will run from 7.00pm to 9.00pm with opportunities to talk to the Design team and a presentation at 7.30 pm.
