Labour Ward 0141 211 5340/5216 OR 0141 451 5501

Within labour suite we encourage birthing partners to be present acknowledging their important role in supporting women and the impact on their birth experience.

Birthing partners are encouraged to update friends and family on a woman’s progress thus limiting the number of direct calls to labour suite and ensuring that women remain informed and at the centre of all discussions surrounding communication of their babies birth.

Visiting within high dependency will be determined by the woman’s condition.  Partners will be supported to visit and any additional visitors will be guided by the woman’s condition and activity within the area.

Spiritual Care - Chapel and Quiet Room Tel: 0141 211 4661

The Healthcare Chaplains for the Princess Royal Maternity can be contacted on 0141 211 4661.

There is a small Chapel on the 4th floor of the Maternity building. It is open 24 hours a day and offers a peaceful space for patients, visitors and staff for the purposes of reflection, meditation and prayer.  There is also a Quiet Room adjacent to the chapel.

The Chaplaincy Service delivers spiritual and religious care to all people.  Spiritual care addresses the fundamental human need to have a sense of peace, security and hope particularly in the context of injury, illness or loss.  Healthcare Chaplains do this by being attentive to the patient’s story, looking for sources of strength and resilience, valuing the person and what is most important to them. Religious care can be a crucial aspect of this. Healthcare Chaplains work with other NHS staff to ensure that these needs are met and, where appropriate, in partnership with local faith and belief groups.

Please visit our web page for more information on the Spiritual Care and Healthcare Chaplaincy Service.

If you have a general  enquiry you can email us on chaplains@ggc.scot.nhs.uk and our patient leaflet can be accessed here NHSGGC Spiritual Care Team Patient Leaflet 2019.

An NHS Healthcare Chaplain is always on-call and ward staff can arrange for them to be paged.  A Roman Catholic Priest is also available at all times.
