What are you recruiting for?

This vacancy is for an Apprentice Clerical Officer in the Waiting List Team at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus.

What does the Waiting List Team do?

The Team are responsible for the allocation of Outpatient appointments for Neurophysiology, Neurosurgery and Neurology clinical services.

What hours will I work?

You will work a standard 37.5 hour working week from Monday to Friday between 08:45 am to 5:00 pm.

What will I be doing?

A full outline of the duties is provided in the full job description (attached). However duties will include:

• Scanning referrals onto Trakcare system

• Updating patient details on Trakcare

• Answering telephone enquiries from patients

• Arranging outpatient appointments on Trakcare

• Photocopying

• Providing a range of general admin support to wider team if required

What Qualifications do I need to apply?

In order to apply you must have a minimum of:

• National 4 English and two other National 4 qualifications (or equivalent SCQF level qualification/award),

What type of person are you hoping to recruit?

As well as meeting the academic criteria your application should demonstrate that you are organised, and that you can pay attention to detail. A significant part of the role is dealing with patient calls requesting appointments in a busy office environment. Scanning & data inputting requires attention to detail and a high level of concentration. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential in providing a professional and efficient service for the patients we are responsible for. This role requires someone who is polite, patient and has a friendly and helpful manner.

We are also looking for someone who is keen to learn new things and has an enthusiastic and positive approach to work. Being able to take instruction and follow procedures is important, as is having a flexible and adaptable manner in order to cope with changing demands on your time.

Is there an age limit?

The current vacancy for the apprentice Grounds Person within the Partnership Grounds Keeping Team 16-24 (or 16 to 29 years for Disabled Applicants or applicants  who are care experienced*), in line with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Youth Employment Plan and workforce projections. Please ensure you include your date of birth in the equal opportunities section of the online application form.

* Care experienced applicants are people who live/have lived with foster parents/kinship carers or who live/have lived in a residential children's setting/secure unit. If this describes you please indicate this in question 3 of the assessment section in the online application form

How long will the Apprenticeship last?

This apprenticeship will last for 12 Months.

When will this Apprenticeship start?

We anticipate that successful candidates will commence employment (subject to the length of time it takes to complete individual pre employment checks) Late September 2019.

What happens a the end of the Apprenticeship?

All candidates who successfully complete all elements of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Modern Apprenticeship Programme will move into permanent employment within the organisation.

How much will I be paid and how many hours a week will I work?

This post will be paid at Band 2 (Annexe 21). NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is a Living Wage Employer. This Modern Apprenticeship will pay you a minimum £17, 593 per annum (£9.00 per hour) for the duration of your apprenticeship. 

You will work a 37.5 hour week.

As an employee of Greater Glasgow and Clyde you will also be entitled to all the benefits that our staff receive including a minimum of 27 days paid annual leave, an additional 8 days paid public holidays and enrolment in the NHS Scotland Pension Scheme.
