Welcome to the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Orthotics service information pages.
Our Orthotics team is made up of 16 Orthotists and we work across 8 hospital sites. We only see patients at the hospital; we do not have any clinics in the community. To find your closest Orthotics services see "Orthotic Locations" below.
Orthotists are Allied Health Care Professionals registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) who specialise in the assessment of the whole body for biomechanical problems and if appropriate may prescribe, measure, fit or review an Orthosis.
An Orthotist will assess tendons, ligaments, bones, joints, nerves and other structures and create a treatment plan in agreement with our patients in order to:
We can prescribe and supply Orthotic devices including prescription footwear, insoles, ankle foot orthoses, knee braces, wrist hand orthoses, pressure redistribution devices and spinal braces, but we can also give advice about what you can do to improve your own health and manage your condition.
You can ask your General Practitioner (GP) or any Healthcare Professional to send a referral to Orthotics for you.
If you prefer, you can Self-Refer to the Service by calling the following number 0141 347 8909
Ask for an appointment for Orthotics and give a short description of why you need an appointment.
