Review of Minor Injuries Services to West Glasgow

Glasgow City Integration Joint Board is responsible for the strategic planning of unplanned health care, which includes minor injuries services.  The Integration Joint Board considered at its meeting on 21 June 2017 proposals to undertake a review of minor injuries services for West Glasgow.

In summary, it is proposed that the review will look at the options for minor injuries services for people in West Glasgow.  It will look at:

  • how accessible minor injuries services are for people in Greater Glasgow and Clyde
  • how many people need to use minor injuries services
  • the money required for minor injuries services and
  • how patients and the public will be involved and engaged in this process.

The service at Yorkhill was closed on a temporary basis last year.

The report to the June 2017 Integration Joint Board is available.  It is proposed that there will be a report back to the meeting of the Integration Joint Board in September 2017 about the review.

There is also further information about minor injury units in Glasgow available.  Additionally you can watch a YouTube video that provides more information.

Option Appraisal

The Review Group has undertaken an option appraisal exercise to assess the three options being considered as part of the review. The information used to inform the option appraisal is available, and the report from the option appraisal including the criteria used to assess the options, the analysis of each option and the scores for each option.

Review and Stakeholder Group

A Review and Stakeholder Group has been established with patient representation. The minutes of the Group’s meetings will be published here when available.

An engagement plan will also be published here when available. There are a number of engagement events taking place in September 2017, and there was a meeting of the North West Locality Engagement Forum where the review was discussed.  Further information will be added as the Review progresses.

Information about this review will also be posted on Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership's website here:
